I am going to reupholster the crap out of my furniture

I have several giant re-upholstery projects planned. My eyes are probably bigger than my stomach here, but I'm going to give it a shot. I'm going to slowly purchase the recommended tools. There's a great tool list at the beginning of the book and I'm keeping it in my truck so that I have it on me when I run to the home improvement store to get the items one at a time.
The book goes over the tools, materials used in upholstery, and the basics of how to accomplish it. It goes over how to do reupholstering of antiques (using natural fibers, etc.), and how to make minor repairs to the frame. It's fairly comprehensive. I wouldn't say that you could go into business after reading the book, but the average person should be able to reupholster a basic chair with the help of this book. I imagine the more that you do it the better you'll get so that you'll be able to tackle larger projects and furniture over time.

The title says it all "... Upholstery Basics Plus..."

Just got the book, read it cover to cover and can't wait to get started on my new upholstery projects - 10 dining room chairs and 1 chaise with overstuffed cushions. I have re-upholstered a couple couches before, but just by winging it with whatever tools and sewing machine I had and using the old material as a pattern and taking notes on the way the pieces were put together. This guide describes the tools, the materials and the processes in detail and includes numerous pictures, leaving nothing to the imagination. Definitely recommend this book to the beginner or the more advanced.

Don't get Kindle version...otherwise Great!!

I bought the kindle version so I could get started reading right away. It was horrible because the photos and text aren't together and the book is written assuming you can see the text and images simultaneously. For example, you will often see instructions like, "follow steps 1-3 on page 47" which is very hard to follow on the kindle because the page sizes are so much smaller the numbering is different, and you can't see the images it references to.
The book itself is awesome though. I went ahead and orderer the spiral bound paper copy and love it!
