Now about SceneKit tutorial is very little, your tutorial to eliminate my trouble, I think Scenekit is a very good engine, use it can develop a very good 3D mobile phone game. Mr.Chris Language's tutorial, the logic is clear and easy to understand, I very much admire, I hope you can for ios10, swift3 developed a better Scenekit program, write a better tutorial.

Grab a cup of coffee or three and join the author of this delightful book for a zippy crash course on the basic skills needed to develop 3D games for iOS devices. A wide variety of information is presented in this challenging, yet approachable book. Topics include an introduction to the 3D tree, cameras, lighting, object creation, collision detection, animations, touch-based interactions, and so much more. This book has all the right stuff take your skills and creativity to the next level.

There’s just enough information in each section to understand what’s going on before diving straight ahead into hands-on tutorials. These directed walk-throughs are designed to give readers the skills they need to become the next generation of rock star 3D developers and it really works!

This book is ideal for developers who already have a background in programming and a familiarity with 3D software written in other languages. However, newbies beware! The book does a good job of presenting a lot of information in a friendly, entertaining manner, but it races through the basics. There is no time wasted on discussions of Swift syntax, code styling, or program design. The focus of this quick read is on 3D programming and it stays true to focus without wondering off unnecessarily into tangential or supporting topics.

Although I have a strong programming background and have programmed 3D scenes in other languages, I decided to read this new (and exciting) text from cover to cover before attempting any of the code examples. Here’s what I discovered in the process:

All four games rely on an external game object, built by the author and included with the book, to function. This approach offers pros and cons. First, many fundamental parts of the game play, such as keeping track of the score or loading sounds, are not directly shown in the code. The functionality is included in the downloadable software, but is only included indirectly in the code descriptions.

This strategy allows readers to focus on the specifics of the training, but obfuscates the actual game play logic – which again may negatively impact the beginners trying to claw their way up this mountain. On a very positive note, the source code included with this book can be modified and/or used in as many games as needed without even acknowledging the book. Oh yeah! That’s awesome. I love reusable code! But why not throw an acknowledgement in their way, huh? They deserve a pat on the back or wink the next time you attempt to lick your elbow.

Organizationally, the book is pretty good. The author recognizes the need for conceptual knowledge such as lighting models, orthographic projections, and texture maps, and does a reasonable job of explaining most background concepts. On several occasions the presentation of the background concepts and the technical implementations got pretty mixed up and left me feeling a bit dizzy, but I am sure the forum can straighten thing out for any coders out there like myself.

In summary, the book could benefit from more editing, a bit of design discussion, and some extra attention to basics, but overall It's a great addition to any iOS reference library. I really enjoyed the silly comments and light-hearted language. The text took me from having no familiarity with 3D design in XCode to feeling like I could champion the next 3D mega hit in one week – and that’s no small task. . Great work!

A short book, in a friendly interviewer format. Students of modern art will find its contents can easily be skimmed for some nice insights on some of the great artists of the last century, such as Picasso, Klee, Tobey, and Rothko.

This is not a balanced, scholarly review of the career of the famous Swiss art dealer and collector Ernst Beyeler. It is Mr. Beyeler's episodic recollections from a life lived for and with great art.

I think one interested in "A Passion for Art" probably also would enjoy William Rubin's more substantial "A Curator's Quest." (Mr. Beyeler and Mr. Rubin, now both dead, seemed to have been good friends from the evidence provided by these two books.)

What Happened?

When I started reading this story it had so much promise and then around the 3rd and 4th chapters it takes a wrong turn.I am all for HEA in all the books I read but you first have to get there.I didn't feel a connection with either character and what was happening.I think something is missing a second look by the writer wouldn't hurt.

Great Text

This was a required course text for a junior-level math course in "Engineering Math" that I took as an undergrad. It has since proved an invaluable resource, both in later mathematics courses and in engineering classes/research (I'm now in my first year of grad school.) I have both used it as a review and as a reference in picking up new material -- it has a pretty good variety of useful math in it (everything from differential equations to vector calculus to basic complex analysis.) Although it doesn't go very "deep" into any one thing, it has enough in there to be useful for an engineer needing a basic understanding of each subject.

If you're looking for a good, broad mathematical reference book, this one should fit the bill. I've had a number of people try to steal my copy over the past few years (by "borrowing" it indefinitely), so I know that others out there have found it useful, as well.

Better than Stewart

I used this text in a second year differentail equations course and a second year vector calculus course. I like how this book explained the concepts better than i liked stewart (a classic first year calculus text) in some areas, like partial differentials and line integrals. Once you've read each section and thoroughly understand what was said there is no problem in the text you can't solve. However be warned this book is replete with errors, I found many and brought them to the attention of my TA.

I am extremely dissapointed with this new edition of the text and have one advise only: If you own 2nd ed., do not indulge in this new edition for even the errors (spellings for one) are xeroxed onto the new edition.

Therefore, for a review of the text itself, you may, without any compunction, refer to 2nd ed.'s comments, of which there are many.

His CD program on how to raise happy and self-confident kids was instructive

Brian Tracy [as usual] does it again; i have been listening to Brian Tracy's audio-cassettes- -and now CDs for 25 years. As a customer of N/C I'd listen to his tapes, subsequently, as a customer of Brian Tracy International, and now via Amazon. One would think enough is enough. Isn't it the same all over again? Sometimes yes. But Mr Tracy's products are still worth their weight in gold; i am a full-time yeshiva student and the title "eat that frog" seems rather oxymoronic for me especially. But for organizing daily planning + life-goals & dealing with family - - especially children and grandchildren Mr Tracy is the cream at the top. By the way, maybe Mr Tracy could make a CD-set on how to relate to grand-children? His CD program on how to raise happy and self-confident kids was most instructive.

Still the best time management and goal setting book on the market! Bring me my frogs!

I have been on a personal crusade to be more efficient and beat the monster called procrastination. It’s so easy to put projects off when I feel that I have time but just don’t feel like working on them. I’ve been trying mini habits to build up my commitments and bullet journaling to get myself primed for action. I am an advocate that there is no sure way for planning success and that everyone needs to find what works best.

Years ago, I read Brian Tracy’s book Eat That Frog! I used several of his suggestions to avoid procrastination and to motivate myself back on track. The problem is that I fell off and needed a refresher. Brian just released the 3rd addition of Eat That Frog! With enhanced chapters highlighting the good and ugly of technology. I enjoyed the book, even more, this time because I had tried more motivational tricks and tips over the years and no one gives sound advice better than Brian Tracy. Eat That Frog! Gobbles up any other resource on procrastination or goal setting in the market. I encourage you to return to the 21 time tried suggestions for becoming a better you to meet surpass goals and scare the procrastination monster away.

I admire Brian’s analogy of the frog on the outset of his book. He likens your “frog” to your biggest and most critical task that you need to accomplish. It’s also the goal that you are most likely to procrastinate about and put on the back burner. Brian eloquently says that "It has been said that if the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you can go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that it is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you all day long”. Very powerful isn’t it? We all have a weight off of our shoulders when we can throw off the one thing that prevents us from enjoying life and bringing key results.

We need to commit to ranking our core objectives and tackling them first. Don't complete the smaller tasks on your daily list just to have a feel good moment. You will only set yourself up for additional stress when your biggest task monster stares down at you. Always have clarity about what you want and make lists of categorized goals so that you can rank them and eat the biggest frogs first thing every morning.

Setting and achieving goals is a process and won't happen overnight. You need to build new routines and habits to maintain structure and guide you. Brian shows us the 3 "D's" of new habits to jumpstart our journey. They include the decision, discipline, and determination. Once these behaviors are ingrained, we can start to visualize where we want to be and stop procrastinating on what is hindering our success.

Successful people know that they can’t focus on everything at once. Goals need to be ranked, and some may never even be touched. They are often "filler" goals that can be delegated or deleted off the list. We should focus on the goals that will give us the biggest bang for our buck and will have a meaningful impact on our lives. This process makes us more productive and leaves us more time for the precious areas of our lives. Too often people think that getting things done equals productivity and instead they are just busy bees flitting around accomplishing little. We need to zero in on what is critical and push for productivity with intent.

Brian offers 21 intriguing ideas in separate chapters to improve your productivity and kick procrastination aside. Each idea is recapped so that you can immediately implement it. We all have unique methods of organizing and approaching goals, so I love the many options that Brian introduces us to. You may want to pick one tactic a week to focus on until it's a habit or be more flexible in how you choose. Time management is your personal system and having flexibility is the key to success.

Last, Brian shares the good and ugly of technology. Being wired in all day real time is a blessing because we can feasibly do our job from anywhere and we have so many tools to choose. Conversely, technology can control us and drive procrastination or encourage poor habits. Use technology wisely and to your advantage. Don't allow it to consume you.

Eat That Frog! Is one book that I have marked up and highlighted to aid me in fighting procrastination and to use my time more wisely. In the past, I have listed my goals but conveniently started with the tadpoles first because they are easy. I convinced myself that I'm hacking away at the list and being productive. Now, I'm eating frogs every morning and enjoying it!

Had Some Cute Moments

When Duke North is in a shipwreck and he can’t remember anything, Helen Nichols lets him believe he’s the pastor. Since the rescuers found a Bible on him with the name of Hamish Campbell, the man who was coming to be the town’s preacher, no one knows differently. But Helen’s lies get more and more complicated. She just hopes the man might fall in love with her before he remembers who he is, because she knows she’s beneath his station. Helen has been in love with him for two years.

I didn’t like this book at all to start with. There were some minor problems, like "of Christina and she." "The word "tizzy wasn't used until 1940, and this was 1815. Cows have to be milked; it is not an option if they're going to keep giving milk. When the trunk was recovered from the sea, North thumbed through four books and used paper from it to write his sermons. Wouldn't the paper be soaked and ruined? And how was North able to climb the ladder to the barn loft with a bucket of milk and basket of eggs in his hands? The fact that the heroine kept lying for selfish reasons, and the lies had the potential of hurting many people, made me not like her. North also hides his memory loss from everyone else, and, when his memory begins to return, he doesn’t let Helen know but tells her he’s going to visit his relative’s plantation to tell them their cousin was killed at sea. She gets upset, knowing that they’ll tell him who he really is, and he’ll know she’s been lying. I think the story would have been even better if everyone had told the truth but North decided to stay and fill in for the pastor, hoping that his memory would return. I hate plots built on nothing but lies. I did think the ending was well-done, so I gave the novel 3.5 stars, which rounded up to a four. It did have its cute moments.

One of the Best Marvel Stories Ever Written

Annihilation Conquest is a direct sequel to the 2006 Marvel event Annihilation (also collected in Omnibus format) written by the same men, Keith Giffen, Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. This time around it is Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning taking up the lion's share of the writing whereas they only wrote the Nova section of Annihilation. The story is masterfully crafted from beginning to end. The art is superb in each of the various portions, from the tie-in mini series collected here to the covers to the epic main event. Tom Raney, Sean Chen, Paul Pelletier, Kyle Hotz, Timothy Green II, and the rest of the artists really pull out all the stops producing some beautiful and inspiring artwork.

For those of you in the know, the Marvel cosmic books from 2006 starting with Annihilation through 2010's Thanos Imperative and Annihilators was perhaps the greatest chunk of Marvel comic books ever produced. Annihilation and Annihilation Conquest and every cosmic comic book that resulted afterward are the reason Marvel Studios produced the Guardians of the Galaxy film (a testament to how wonderful these stories are). I was present at the 2010 San Diego Comic Con Marvel Panel in which authors Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning were present along with Jeff Loeb and Brian Michael Bendis. Every single person that came up to ask a question began by saying, "DnA (Dan and Andy), your cosmic Marvel books are the best thing Marvel is doing right now!"

Annihilation Conquest is a worthy sequel to Annihilation. This omnibus sadly is not without its flaws. The foremost of these is the layout of the issues inside. As with the previous Annihilation Omnibus the sections are split into their respective chunks beginning with Nova #1-3, Annihilation Conquest Prologue, Nova #4-7, Star-Lord mini, Quasar mini, Wraith mini, Nova #8-10, Nova Annual #1, Nova #11-12, and Annihilation Conquest #1-6. This layout is incorrect. Annihilation Conquest #1-6 and Nova #8-12 plus Annual #1 should be alternating until the finale. The correct reading order for the last 12 issues should be Nova #8, AC #1, Nova #9, AC #2 and so on ending with Nova #12 and then AC #6. These issues were originally released in this order as the writers intended it to be read. This layout keeps Nova involved during the main event and builds proper momentum towards the end when he finally returns for the climax. At least everything is included.

As a result of this improper layout of issues a major spoiler is revealed in a Nova issue that shouldn't be known until beginning the main event, that of Ultron being in control of the Phalanx. Clearly Marvel disregarded keeping that a surprise altogether by their choice for the cover. It's a magnificent cover to be sure. I know Marvel was trying to boost sales of this omnibus by promoting Ultron in congruence with this summer's film Avengers: Age of Ultron. When Annihilation Conquest came out originally Ultron's reveal at the end of AC #1 was a huge surprise that no one saw coming! A very exciting moment that ramped up the tension and excitement of the story. Here that secret and reveal are given away before you even read the book undercutting much of the WOW factor of the story.

The only other drawback to this collection is the partial inclusion of promotional materials. Marvel promoted this event by advertising the new character designs for Quasar, Adam Warlock, and Wraith. These are nowhere to be found in the book. They have included a one-sheet of Wraith which looks like a lead in to the others but none of them are there. These images can easily be found online and there is no reason why they shouldn't be included here. There are also several character profiles missing from the handbook. The omnibus is shorter than many others Marvel has produced so again there is no excuse for these missing materials.

Other than those I have no complaints. The writing and artwork are some of the finest examples of Marvel's catalog. My criticisms are solely based on the collection herein, not the story or creative talents. This story is the first grouping of the modern Guardians of the Galaxy and hands down the best Ultron story Marvel has produced. You'd be doing yourself a favor by getting this. Hopefully next year we will receive the War of Kings total epic collected in Omnibus format (in proper reading order this time). I imagine it would take two omnibi to collect that story in its entirety. Let's hope they treat the material with the detail and respect it deserves.

While not quite as good, script-wise or even plot-wise, still Annihilation:Conquest is a fun cosmic adventure and showcases Nova and the Guardians of the Galaxy as valid patrons of Marvel Cosmic. The production quality by Marvel is excellent and is printed by RR Donnelly Asia Solutions, which seems to produce the most superior printed works. The painted cover is gorgeous and a great selection of Ultron on his throne.

This omni and last year's Annihilation make me long for a return of epic Marvel Cosmic, the only worthy successor being the Guardians 3000 title that just ran its course (not coincidentally also scripted by Dan Abnett.)

Wraith had a lot of promise as a new cosmic addition to the Marvel pantheon, but, unfortunately, his mini-series and inclusion in the overall event didn't fulfill this promise.

In my opinion, the best cosmic artist is Paul Pelletier. Unfortunately, we only see two issues worth of his work. I would love to see him do another cosmic book for either Marvel, DC or Valiant (can you imagine him on Imperium?) I think he would be the perfect artist for the long-ago rumored Tony Bedard-scripted Silver Surfer story.

If you were lucky enough to purchase Annihilation omnibus, you will likely enjoy this omnibus. Highly recommended.

Phalanx Conquest

The universe is just finding stability after the Negative Zone invasion as Nova returns to Earth to get some R&R but the Earth he has returned to is a Post Civil War one where superheroes all hate one another and Nova runs into the Thunderbolts. Phyla-Vell has kept the Quantum Bands from the end of Annihilation and become the new Quasar as she works with Moondragon. Peter Quill is helping set up a new Kree War-Net to stop anymore Annihilation events but that turns out to be the beginning of the end as the Phalanx machine race is able to infiltrate the Kree War-Net. Kree space is then blocked off from the rest of space.

As with Annihilation we get the character stories that lead to them joining up in the big group event. Nova, just as with the last event is the best of the bunch but the 3rd set of his stories were not well placed in the Omnibus as they do give away parts of the story that hadn't happened yet. Nova must fight off the Phalanx as they attempt to control him using Gamora and Drax to bring him in to the fold. We follow Peter Quill as he becomes Star-Lord again and his Guardians of the Galaxy team is assembled as they try to take back Hala. Quasar is being spoken to by a mysterious voice leading her to the person needed to end this conflict but her Quantum Bands are failing and the Super Adaptoid is on her and Moondragon's trail. This mysterious being they are lead to is Adam Warlock. Next is Wraith, who wields a mysterious weapon that can disable the Phalanx. The Kree, used as puppets by the Phalanx capture him, Super Skrull and Prax who must break out of containment. We continue with Nova as he visits Knowhere before heading to the Phalanx homeworld looking for a way to beat them, this is the part where it is revealed in passing that Ultron is controlling the Phalanx despite the fact he has appeared yet.

Now the main story is all these characters coming together to bring down the Ultron lead Phalanx Empire. The High Evolutionary comes into play since Adam Warlock plays such a major part.

The book contains in-depth characters profiles on many of the events characters, cover galleries of Adi Granov's awesome work. The art is different for all the series included; I thought Nova, Star-Lord and the main event had the best stuff.
