WOW! Another briliiant YA paranormal from an epic author!

Can I just say WOW! This is fast become my most favorite series, and Patti Larsen is definitely one of the best new finds of this year. In Witch Hunt, Syd is finally fitting in and making friends. But that doesn't mean she's human. And a scary group of witch hunters knows exactly what she is... and how to kill her!

To make matters more complicated, she finally has a guy who really likes her. A sexy football player even! But what about the even sexier witch-boy who stole this readers' heart in book 1? Yeah, it's not so simple for Syd. Hey Syd, I can make this real easy for you hon, PICK THE SEXY WITCH!

Can she fight the evil forces trying to destroy her family AND juggle two sexy guys with complicated relationships? You just have to read this next installment to find out. Can't wait for the next book! Good thing Ms. Larsen writes faster than most people read! This is a MUST READ for anyone who loves paranormal books about witches, magic and romance.

Another amazing Syd Hayle Adventure!

Another amazing Syd Hayle adventure! I can't get enough of this girl. She's snarky, loving and has a knack for not following directions. The snafu's she gets into this round really had me gripping my chair in absolute terror for her.

The Chosen of the Light are after her, especially the creepy Demetrius, who wants to recruit Syd for his demented faction that cleanses the earth of evil. He considers Syd's family as tainted, but since there is something more malevolent going on that distracts the coven from dealing with him, he gets widely ignored, which is a huge mistake.

Syd seems to find herself in tons of situations where her magic, still not under complete control, seems to attract trouble and fantastical things out nowhere. The school bully isn't even immune and she, Susanne, gets possessed by some unknown entity that wants to do nothing more than drain everyone dry around them--magic, blood and all. It really had everyone on their toes because no one knows what's going on for most of the book, which sort of freaks everyone out, including me. Definitely spine tingling.

Absolutely loved this installment of the Hayle Coven Series. It shows Syd growing more and more in tune with her magic, teases us with the handsome Quaid's subtle affections, pulls Syd's friends into the thick of the mess plaguing the coven and keeps you rooting for Syd the whole way through. Excellent series.

If I thought the first book in this series was an absolute must read, then "Witch Hunt" must be something like a double must read!

Six months along and Sydlynn Hayle is still in the same town and the same school but now has a circle of friends and even a boyfriend. She is learning to use her magical powers, enjoying her life with her friends and going to parties like any normal teenage girl.

One of the parties turns into a disaster when an ancient power arises to start feeding on kids with latent magical powers. When the mean cheerleader Suzanne are possessed, and town folk and coven members start disappearing, Syd's coven has to step in and do something about it. That is when things get out of hand.

Syd's crazy grandmother, who can only be subdued by a constant supply of chocolates and tequila, continues with her antics in this book, entertaining the reader to no end. And let's not forget another contributor who adds to the magic of this story - the silver Persian cat, Sassafras, who is really something else imprisoned in the body of a cat.

Once I started reading Witch Hunt, I simply couldn't put it down. The nonstop excitement, action and drama kept me sitting on the edge of my seat. As I had become very fond of many of the characters when reading the first book in the series, "Family Magic", I was really concerned that something bad may befall one of them during this story.

The dialogue is extremely well written but most enjoyable, and often hilarious, is the inner dialogue and thoughts of the main character, Syd. When she thinks of the bad guy as somebody with two god-complexes and a serious multiple personality disorder, I was shouting with laughter.

Patti Larsen brilliantly combines just the right amount of action, warmth and humor in this book - something which I always admire greatly in authors. I would strongly recommend this young adult novel to readers of all ages. Once again this gifted writer has given her readers a beautiful, warm-hearted and very suspenseful 5 star read to enjoy. Neil Dalal is Assistant Professor of South Asian Philosophy and Religious Thought in the Philosophy Department and Religious Studies Program at the University of Alberta, Canada. He holds a PhD from the Department of Asian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

Chloë Taylor is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Alberta, Canada. She has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Toronto and was a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and Tomlinson postdoctoral fellow in Philosophy at McGill University.

About the Author
Johnny Hart used ideas from a deck of playing cards to create the first few Wizard of Id comic strips. The strip was syndicated on November 9, 1964 - drawn by Brant Parker and written by Johnny Hart. In 1997 Brant Parker passed his illustrating duties on to his son Jeff Parker, who had already been involved with creating Id for a decade.

Johnny Hart is an American cartoonist noted as the creator of the comic strips B.C. and Wizard of Id. Hart was recognized with several awards, including four from the National Cartoonists Society for B.C. and six with co-producer Brant Parker for Wizard of Id.

Excellent reference on advanced ceramics

This is an excellent review volume on advanced ceramics. It thoroughly covers the basics of Boron Nitride and Silicon Nitride ceramics and composites of these ceramics. Processing, properties, and applications are described. Fundamentals such as phase diagrams are included. The volume contains hundreds of references to the primary literature. Anyone who is working with either of these ceramic classes should own a copy of this book.

Knowledge is power

A wonderful read with an easy to follow layout. I enjoyed the way the book was broken down into 3 sections, and not all over the map like some of the dating guides are out there.

It had been a while since I've read any dating material and throughout the book I kept saying "Oh yeah!" to myself as I came across many well-needed reminders. I like how he started off by saying that we all already possess the keys to success, it's just a matter of unlocking the doors.

A few things that stood out for me:

-The importance of martial arts
-Using death as motivation
-The do's and do nots of conversation and interaction
-The "worst that can happen" when approaching women
-The author's focus on feelings and the best way to create emotions in women

The book is both a great starting point and a great refresher if you've been away from the scene for a while. I'd say pick it up if you are even slightly interested in dating for men!

Advice on life

A very useful series of instructions on how to change your life. The book is split into three different parts, which cover the author's "3 basic laws". The opening chapter concentrates on how to be the perfect man, on what to change in your life and how to be the man that every woman wants. After a firm base has been established, and the definitions of what women want has been detailed, the book moves onto how to approach these women and build a worthy relationship with them.

It's common sense fused with a lot of knowledge and there are plenty of valuable pieces of advice within.

Nice handy book

I purchased this book on a whim one Saturday morning because I received an email about it from Amazon. I figured it must have some good information or else the author wouldn't be charging so much for it. I also figured if it didn't, I could always get a refund. Well, I have to say it was a very well written detailed book. Quite useful and needless to say I did not request a refund as a matter of fact I shared it with a couple of my co-workers.
