About the Author

Sara Davis Powell has been a classroom teacher of children, adolescents, and adults for four decades, in elementary, middle, and high schools, and in college undergraduate and graduate programs. She currently is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Education at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina and is active in the American Educational Research Association, the Association for Middle Level Education, ASCD Learn. Teach. Lead., and Kappa Delta Pi. In addition to being a frequent conference speaker and facilitator of professional development for K-12 schools, she has authored many articles and several books including the college text Introduction to Middle Level Education (Pearson, 3e, 2015). Sara is the mother of four grown sons and lives with her husband Rus in a cottage on the Catawba River.

Amazon don't lie, I got what I ordered.

Eh, I had to get this book for my education class. It came on time, was what I expected, and was in brand-new condition. What more could I want?

Well, maybe if I'm going to spend almost $100 on a LOOSE-LEAF BOOK THAT I HAD TO BUY A BINDER TO BE ABLE TO USE, then make the pictures inside colored! It's like I'm reading the information off of a bloody newspaper! What the eff.

Nice book is a keeper.

A great book if you want to know about education or are going into the education. For me this book was a requirement for beginner education classes. But i also found it usefull in other means like psychology classes. And will keep this book for further references. I got the loose leaf version. But feel free to get whatever works for you

About the Author
Jane Roberts (May 8, 1929 - September 5, 1984) grew up in SaratogaSprings, New York where she attended Skidmore College. Jane was aprolific writer in a variety of genres including poetry, short stories,children's literature, fiction, and non-fiction. Her internationalbestselling non-fiction books include Seth Speaks, The Nature ofPersonal Reality, The Nature of the Psyche, and The Individual and theNature of Mass Events. Her enormously popular novels include TheEducation of Oversoul Seven, The Further Education of Oversoul Seven,and Oversoul Seven and the Museum of Time (now published as The Oversoul Seven Trilogy). Yale University Library maintains a collection ofJane's writings, journals, poetry, and audio and video recordings thatwere donated after her death by her husband, Robert F. Butts.

“Objective” reality laid out before you

Using the words “Truth”, “Reality” and “Objective” is a misnomer, but I couldn’t figure out a better way to describe what’s in this book. These words are misnomers because reality is completely subjective, and subject to being shaped totally by our focus. But it is more than that. It’s hard to explain, but Seth in Seth Speaks demonstrates the wisdom of Infinite Intelligence as he lays out the details of life which humanity knows so little about.

If you’re at all inclined to interest in life after “death”, you are going to want to read this. Supremely profound, spot on (in my experience) and thought provoking, this read will open your eyes to what is really going on in “life.” It’s not for everyone. My experience brought me to it with perfect timing. Had it come earlier, I would have blew it off as hooey, not because it is, but because my preparation for reading it was woefully inadequate.

Nearly every page, every paragraph every sentence, every word contains so much wealth of information, I found myself highlighting nearly the whole book! I was highlighting so much my fiancé at the time suggested I highlight the parts I thought were NOT important. That would be easier She said LOL.

I devoured and resonate fully with Seth’s complex analysis of “life” in all it’s manifestations, both in “life” as we know it and in that part of life that exists beyond what we call “death”. What inspired me so much about reading the first part of the book is how immense post-death life is. I so am eager to experience that more!

The section on dreams and the multiple dimensions of existence threw me though. I wasn’t ready to consume that material. I find myself getting through it now though and as my experience with the material matures, I am finding the material about dreams and how to access consciously these unfamiliar dimensions fascinating, thought-provoking and, believe it or not, adding a richness to my life that I knew in the corners of my mind were possible, but didn’t know if I’d actually experience it.

This is life-changing material. If you’re not ready for it, you’re not going to enjoy the journey. If you’re in the right space and ready to receive this material, I strongly encourage you to dive into this book. How will you know? You’ll just have to give it a shot I guess!

This book contains timeless information...literally

This really is an amazing book and one that had the greatest impact in my life as far as opening my perception in ways I could not have imagined when I first read it in 1975. After reading it, I was “ruined”, but in a good way. This is not one of those books you can pick up and read from cover to cover in a few days because it's so rich in ideas and information that you need to go through it slowly in order to mentally digest it. Each time I read it is almost like reading it for the first time because I always grasp something new that I didn’t quite digest the last time through.

This is one of those books you have to read with open-mindedness; if you can’t do that, then you probably won’t get much from it because the information goes way beyond conventional ideas of reality. The material goes against what we’ve been conditioned to believe about religion, history, science, identity, reincarnation, death, after-life, good and evil, and reality. If you hold tight to your beliefs and identify strongly with them, then you will probably have a problem reading this book because it will challenge your beliefs in many ways. On the other hand, if you are able to open your mind to the possibility that you create your reality and that there may be other ways of looking at reality, then you’ll probably have a blast with this book.

THE MOST LIFE CHANGING BOOK EVER!!

Brillant and very life changing. Here are some notes I made that I sent to friends about what it is like to read SETH.
After reading SETH SPEAKS Chapter 21, this is even more meaningful to me!! When I read the first of that chapter it was the best thing ever!! I cried......I screamed out to SETH "Thank you, Thank you SETH, that was the most meaningful thing and the best written thing you communicated ever!!" It broke through to my heart and my Being and opened a doorway to the meaning of life more than anything!! And now I understand EVERYTHING I am to do here from this time... on out!!

What I think it is like to read SETH:

An analogy of what is like to read SETH SPEAKS Is like taking a dive into a hug endless lake and swimming for a long way and suddenly realizing I have gone so far there is no sight of land or I am way too far away to swim safely back. and nothing to reach for safety, and panic begins to set in!! So sometimes I just have to call out for the Spirit of Comfort to come to me and get me back to familiar land for grounding again. It can very scary to read Seth and keep your mental compass intact because it stretches even the most seasoned Spiritual traveler's mind to the limits until you believe you just dropped off the deep end and will never get back!! But I stick with it because the reward of this information is well worth the anguish!! And I have ridden the wave of that anguish until it turns into Ecstasy!! This is not for sissy's and not for those who need teachings that are just sugar and spice and everything nice!! But to think it has taken me years to read him starting and stopping over and over. and get past my comfort zone. Many people just are not ready for it or it is just not something they like. But for me it is a salvation in truly understanding why we are really here!

Grade 2-4–Kudlinski presents a number of early dino theories–a spike on the nose of the Iguanodon, drawings that depicted dinosaurs dragging their tails in the mud and running on spraddled, lizardlike legs–and shows, in her simple text, how further discoveries disproved these, and other, assumptions. She includes data on present-day concerns with such topics as scales and feathers, coloration, and infant care. She discusses the demise of the dinosaurs, the probable evolution of birds, and the fact that some books still on library shelves and even for sale in bookstores may be promulgating old, disproved theories. One small carp: lizards do not just lay their eggs on the ground, then leave. They tend to dig holes or provide other shelter for their eggs first, and then, yes, they leave. Science has had its share of theories once accepted as fact but later superseded, and the mystery of dinosaur fossils seems to have brought out the imaginative side of scientists. Beginning with the ancient Chinese, who decided that dinosaur fossils came from dragons that still lived, the story fast-forwards to nineteenth-century scientists, who guessed that Iguanodon's sharp, conical bone was a spike on its head, rather than a spur on its hand. One mistaken idea after another is examined and illustrated with an ink drawing juxtaposed against a single-color background. Further information comes to light, and the information is corrected on a page showing a dinosaur drawing tinted with full-color washes. Intelligently designed and imaginatively conceived, the artwork makes the text more understandable and the whole book more beautiful. It also reflects the outlook of the text, portraying the scientists of each generation as earnest, sometimes puzzled searchers who did the best they could with the evidence available. The ending returns to the Chinese beliefs, stating that if birds are the descendants of dinosaurs, then they still live. Best of all, the closing paragraph acknowledges that the search is not over yet: the children fascinated by this book may one day find new answers to old questions about the dinosaurs. Carolyn Phelan

Useful for Teaching Scientific Process

I purchased this book for primary teachers for use in their classrooms, and not necessarily for teaching about dinosaurs. It seemed to be equally as suited to an examination of the nature of science and how scientists "operate". Every page holds opportunities to describe how scientific ideas change as new information is gathered, and to stress that being "wrong" is a normal part of scientific discovery. Teachers can also ask students to point out the evidence that scientists used to modify early theories about dinosaurs. It can be emphasized that although the author uses the term "guess" several times, coming to conclusions based on observations is not guessing, and that modifying ideas after gathering additional data is acceptable and desirable.

This book was for my 6 year old grandson, who LOVES dinosaurs. I was intrigued by the description, as I want him to read, but to also not take everything he reads as being a fact. This book got him to thinking about what he has been told about dinosaurs and that we still have a lot to learn. Excellent book.

intriguing to the last page!!

My buying guide has always been the description on the back cover, which has served me well and this book is no exception. The author portrays the gentle, caring side of many members of the gay community, but doesn't leave out those less desirable. Nick's warmth and his love of friends are appealing and the playful nature of his online chats is not unlike many I've experienced. The characters are realistic and the story points out the pros and cons of online chats. When Nick meets Brent by accident, it's love-at-first-sight, and anyone of any age who has had this experience will relate to Nick's young-at-heart feelings. The Spanish character Pedro with his endearing dialect is the true star of the story although perhaps unintended by the author, but he's my favorite character! The mystery portion is engaging; the police investigation is riveting and had me turning the pages in anticipation. All of this and the easy flow of the author's writing resulted in a very satisfactory read. I encourage and anticipate the author's next novel!

I love a good mystery book!

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!! Very cool book. It really kept me guessing who did it right up to the end, and the mystery is solved, but with a really interesting end that makes me hope there will be a sequel. I love to read mysteries, and although this author is new to me, I think his writing is great. Kevin's book was a good read. Definitely recommended.

Awesome!

I just got done with this book and I will say that it is a "must" read. I loved every moment. I would tell you my favorite parts in the book but that would be giving away some of the story. The author really knows how to touch your heart and make you feel every moment as it's happening. I really do like Nick. Let's just say it takes him a while like everyone else in the world to find the right guy. I really enjoyed this book and I hope there is a part 2 to it because I really want to find out what happens next. I really hope everyone gives this beautiful book a chance because the author is a great writer and I hope he has a lot more books coming our way.

4 stars: story with possibility

HOLY Smokes - what an opening! I was offered and gifted a copy of this novella from the author. The synopsis looked interesting and HOT and I can promise you it lives up to it - if only initially through the prologue - the HOT part). Volume one gives nothing away, nothing past the prologue gives us a glimpse of the good Doctor and my interest were peaked.

Volume one merely sets up the life of our central character, Ramona "Roni" Gallo. The entire story is in first person so we get a strong sense of who she is - in both thoughts and dialogue. A musician and college student, she comes through as isolated and lonely, battling grief and trying to keep her head above water. By the end of volume one, we have a sense of what comes next (based entirely on the prologue, and where that falls in in the twelve volume series, there's no telling. I gotta think that a lot will unravel in her life and I know we'll get to know Roni much better. I'm not certain I'll like her. At this point, I feel sorry for her and, yes, based on the prologue, I want to see how we get there.

Good writing, great set up, and a character that I THINK I will learn to love - just a bit wary of the relationship status of the doctor (and how Roni justifies her actions in this) so that may kill it for me. Only one way to find out...

An intriguing start!

I didn't realize what a short prequel this was going to be but it ended on such a cliffhanger that I probably would have gone ahead and bought the second chapter, if only to find out exactly what Dr. Frost's backstory with Ramona is. I really enjoyed the beginning of the book; Ramona's inner monologue during the prologue is raw and blunt, almost an exact contrast to the reserved and emotionally reserved Ramona we are introduced to in the first chapter and I loved that. We know the beginning and we know where it ends up, but how they got there is the mystery and I liked that. There was a lot of character setup in this prequel, which I think is a good setup because with a lot of prequels there isn't much time to properly introduce all of the characters and give the reader a feel for who they are. I didn't learn quite as much about Ramona as I would have liked, but I know that in order for her to go from what she was in that first chapter to who she was in the very first scene of the book, something very drastic had to have taken place, and that's what I'm interested in finding out. I thought the writing flowed very well and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

The first volume of this series deserves 5 STARS for its interesting characters, intriguing plotline, almost flawless storytelling, and promises of steaming hot scenes to come…

Ramona “Roni” Gallo is a 24-year-old music student who is in a desperate financial situation. Aside from her grandmother (who lives miles away) and best friend, she basically has no one to depend on—money matters or not. It doesn’t help that she has been worrying for an upcoming group performance or that she has been feeling ill for the past month and that being sick costs a lot. As if all these troubles aren’t worth worrying enough, her past she can’t deal with seems to resurface. Part of this past leaves her with the fear of falling in love. She used to have no difficulty with avoiding commitments and ignoring her attraction to the opposite sex. Then, there was a last minute change of physician…and then there was Doctor Dexter Frost…

I read this knowing that it is the first volume of a series and that it ends in a cliffhanger. I usually avoid reading books ending in cliffhangers unless I have secured the second book. I have made an exception with this one, obviously. Even If I am now dying with excitement to get a hold of that next volume, I can’t help but gush! This book will totally intrigue you and keep you so involved you wouldn’t want it to end!

That prologue is just awesome! Everyone is talking about Epic Epilogues (I include myself here) but what about Panty-melting Prologues??? The prologue is hot and all, but by the way that it was written, the author was clearly aiming to capture our interest and devour every page.

Short reads usually lack a well-paced story progression, which is vital in setting the mood of the narrative, and is linked with character development. I love that this one doesn’t sacrifice character development in order to stick with the intended length. I get to know a lot about Roni’s character by the end of this book. I decided early on in my reading that she’s definitely going to make it to my not-so-long list of favorite heroines. I still have questions about her, sure, but those questions just get me more and more curious, hooked, and intrigued. The characterization is just so powerful that even the secondary characters capture my interest. I crave to learn more about them in the coming books. My “literary instinct” rarely fails me so I believe this series is going to have endearing secondary characters as well. Although Doctor Frost’s character is only introduced by the last chapter, his literary presence is intense.

All in all, what makes this a great, short read is the good writing (how I love the word choice!) and characterization. If this first volume is just a taste of what’s yet to come, then I would definitely read the next volume!

They’re beyond intimidating, and they seem to pierce through my very soul with their frosty, pale blue color. They give off this strangely intense vibe that I’ve never experienced before, and I can’t seem to look away from them. They’re alluring and enticing and frightening all at once. It’s almost like looking into the eyes of a beautiful serial killer. You know it will be the end of you, but can’t for the look of you look away."

I highly recommend this book to all the true-blooded New Adult lovers out there! As long as you can put up with a cliffhanger, this one’s for you.

Great recipes and comprehensive diet information

I have had the original Whole Life Nutrition cookbook since it came out and I LOVE this new version. The original has been my most used cookbook over the years, hands down! This new book includes the very latest nutrition science, and I especially appreciated the information and perspective on all the latest diets including the paleo diet.

There are new chapters, and several new recipes. There is a whole chapter on cultured foods. I believe there are over 300 recipes altogether. We really enjoyed the new Quinoa tortillas and the grain free and vegan Apple Walnut Crisp. This book still contains many of our old favorites like Red Lentil Dal, Coconut Vegetable Curry, Wild Salmon with Lemon, Garlic and Thyme, Home-Style Chicken and Vegetable Stew, Raw Energy Balls, and Lemon Blueberry Pudding (I first made this pudding nearly 9 years ago and still remember my first taste, it gave me the satisfaction to continue my first elimination diet!) There are several smoothie and salad recipes that are delicious, and have been a great launching point for a whole foods lifestyle.

I did not notice the use of xanthan gum in the baked goods, which is okay with me. Instead I did see chia seeds, which we love to incorporate. The recipes have definitely been updated. I have been cooking with the Whole Life Nutrition recipes for years and I am confident that they are as creative and well developed as the previous versions. And the photos! So beautiful! I wasn't crazy about the index at first, but I am getting used to it, and I am still giving this book 5 stars because the recipes and information are the best I have found. I am very pleased to have this update on my favorite book :)

The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook is a VERY well researched, informative work. The title says it's a cookbook but it's much more than just a cookbook. The first chapter opens with the following Voltaire quote that I believe sets the tone for the book: "Everyone should be his own physician. We ought to assist and not force nature. Eat with moderation what agrees with your constitution. Nothing is good for the body but what we can digest. What medicine can produce digestion? Exercise. What will recruit strength? Sleep. What will alleviate incurable ills? Patience." If you believe in the what goes in, must come out philosophy, you will find something in this book to assist you in bettering your health! From the novice to the pro in the kitchen and garden, there's something for you here!

If you've watched Doctor Oz, you've probably heard of the "blue zones" which are areas around the planet where people live the longest and with the greatest health. The recipes in this book are derived from the dietary patterns found in the "blue zones." There is an excellent selection of gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and egg-free dishes - something for everyone!

Besides the over 300 recipes, there's so much other valuable-to-your-health information that it boggles the mind. You will find the six steps to nourish your digestion system. Whole Food sensitivity is thoroughly delved into. As a celiac, I can attest that food allergies and sensitivities are far more common than we might have imagined. The authors reveal ten common sensitivities, familiar conditions associated with a food sensitivity and known triggers, if any. Various dietary lifestyles such as paleo, vegan-ism, raw, Mediterranean and many more are explained and analyzed. The books offers suggestions and tips for changing your diet to accommodate sensitivities. There's extensive sections on stocking your pantry, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment.

The recipes are easy to follow and not complicated. From cheezy kale chips to fresh marinara sauce and dill pickles. Even the most discriminating will find something they like!

This book has found a permanent home on my bookshelf.

It brought excitement back into my kitchen

A few years ago, I finally figured out that a big imbalance in my gut (candida), and a host of resulting food sensitivities, was responsible for my ailments, and I've been struggling with how to feed myself, and my family, ever since. I have two very young children and my husband and I both work full time outside the house, and it's been a real struggle to figure out what I can and should eat, and then what to feed my husband and children (ie, can we all eat the same foods and be happy -- and no one feels deprived?)

Even though I love cooking, and love reading about nutrition, it's been completely overwhelming and exhausting trying to find something that works for all of us -- and a way of living and eating that is sustainable with the amount of time I have to devote to cooking. What I love about this cookbook is that it incorporates so many of the food paradigms I've come to respect and appreciate, but could never completely embrace to the exclusion of other foods (raw, vegan, anti-inflammatory, etc.). The authors' philosophy fits my own perfectly, and the range of recipes they offer give me back something I haven't had since my candida diagnosis: a sense of richness and possibility and excitement about cooking. Truly, that -- even more than the wonderful food we have been eating -- has changed my life more than I can describe. I've finally found a cookbook I want to work all the way through, and I'm having a fantastic time! (So is my 3-year-old, who for the first time gets to make muffins with me, because I know that they are actually good for her!)

This has become my primary cookbook, and I only wish there were 100 more recipes in it.

Good resource for begginers using Energia

This book is a Brief 70+ pages going over some basic programs using the Energia IDE. It is important to note that Energia is TI's Arduino like programming environment using a lot custom function calls which are largely identical to Arduino (DigitalWrite, PinMode, etc) but used on the TI Chip based Development board. The IDE can handle the MSP430 as well as a few other of Ti's Arduino Me-too boards. There is no assembly programming just the stripped down C language going over the basic programs. This would be a good resource for the beginning programmer, interested in understanding basic MCU activities and coding. It would not be appropriate for anyone beyond the Hobbyist level, those folks should look at a CCS, IAR, programming environment for the MSP430 or 811, I would highly recommend the book on the MSP430 by Unsalan, Cem and Gurhan, H. Deniz.

A good book for beginning programmers

The book was interesting to beginning programmers who want to start knowing the MSP430 and Energia based IDE platforms (Windows, Linux) programming. The author Provides the required and more to start working with the LaunchPad links. What is interesting in what is exposed by the Serial communication port through the RTS / CTS and the ability to import / export data by CoolTerm. I recommend the book I found very interesting.
